Kuala Kumpur, May 21 (CNA) Taiwan is at the forefront of the 2014 Malaysia Metaltech exhibition that kicked off Wednesday in Kuala Kumpur, displaying hundreds of brands of new machine tools.
Having booths scattering in three exhibition halls, the 43 Taiwanese enterprises comprise the biggest presence among the 44 countries and areas at the exhibition, which runs until May 24.
At the Taiwan booth, some 254 international brands of the latest machine tools made by Taiwanese businesses are on display.
Chang Ming, a division chief at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, said the machine tool manufacturing sector is one of the pillars of Taiwan’s economic development.
After 60 years of development, the sector has the world’s best industrial cluster and generates production revenue of around US$5.43 billion a year, he said.
Taiwan is now the world’s fourth largest machine tool exporter in terms of export value and the sixth largest producer of machine tools in terms of output value.
