Taipei tools exhibition under way in city
hennai: Taipei World Trade Center in association with Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association and National Small Industries Corporation launched the 12th edition of their machine tool exhibition in the city Friday.
Speaking to the media, Charles C Li, director general, Taipei economic and cultural center, said, “I am happy to say that India is one of the fastest growing market for machine tools. The total exports of Taiwan made machine tools to India reached $125 million. We are extremely supportive to government’s ‘Make in India’ policy as well. We will continue to offer our products and support to India thereby strengthening out bilateral ties".
Also present on the occasion were Guann Jyh Lee, executive director, Economic division, Taipei economic and cultural center, George Lin, director of Taipei world trade center, C V Sankar, additional chief secretary (Industries), TN government, R Ramchander, chairman of ACMEE, Soumi Mitra, editor-in-chief, Modern Manufacturing India, among others.
C V Sankar said, “When it comes to manufacturing, we are progressing at a faster rate. The Ambattur Industrial Estate is one of the leading manufacturing hubs in the country. We have many multinational manufacturing companies such as Diamler and I am proud to say that our home grown suppliers are one of the best when it comes to quality standards".
ACMEE chairman R Ramchander said, “Our home grown industries are manufacturing products for the past 55 years. Our turnover is around Rs 3500 crore. I am happy to mention that there as as much as 2.5 lakh women employed in these industries".
After the inaugural ceremony, presentations of Taiwan machine tools were done by six leading companies.
