TAIPEI–Taiwan’s machine tool exports rose in June due to strong demand from Turkey and Germany, a local industry group said Saturday.
Amid the warming global economy, exports of Taiwan-made machine tools totaled US$352.15 million last month, up 8.1 percent from the previous month and 13.2 percent from a year ago, the Taichung-based Taiwan Machine Tool and Accessory Builders’ Association said, citing preliminary statistics.
Exports to Turkey saw the sharpest monthly increase at 43.3 percent, with shipments amounting to US$19.25 million last month. Those to Germany also saw strong monthly growth of 20 percent to total US$10.86 million, the group said.
Shipments to major trade partner China rose by 3.5 percent month-on-month to US$135.08 million in June.
