A special VR product launch event held during Metalloobrabotka 2017 featuring the machine tool and metalworking innovations of Taiwan’s machinery makers wowed the attending buyers, VIP guests and local media.

Held entirely in VR, the launch event took the 50 attending guests, all wearing VR headsets, on a virtual tour of the various new manufacturing solutions developed by Taiwanese companies.

The VR experience even included a factory tour to a local appliances assembling facility where over 40 machine tools made by Taiwanese companies are currently in service.

According to TAITRA Executive Vice President Simon Wan, Taiwan is currently Russia’s third largest machine tool supplier.

In 2016, Taiwan-made machine tools accounted for 10.31% (US$96.62 million) of Russia’s annual machine tool imports, valued at US$936.92 million in total.

In the same year, Russia also imported US$ 184.76 million worth of lathes and turning machines, where Taiwan accounted for 14.1% (US$ 26 million) of the total.
