Taoyuan airport named world’s 10th-best airport for sleeping
Taipei, Oct. 19 (CNA) Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has been ranked 10th in the Best Airports for Sleeping awards this year, the first time it has made it to the top 10 list, according to the authority that oversees the country’s main gateway Monday.
The best performance the Taoyuan airport has previously achieved was the fifth-best airport for sleeping in Asia, which was awarded last year, according to the Taoyuan International Airport Corp.
“The airport has made it to the world’s top 10 this year, suggesting that it has won international recognition," the company said in a press release.
The airport is behind Singapore’s Changi International Airport, South Korea’s Seoul Incheon International Airport, Finland’s Helsinki International Airport, Germany’s Munich International Airport and Austria’s Vienna International Airport, according to travel guide Sleeping in Airports website, which presents the awards.
From sixth to ninth were Portugal’s Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport, Estonia’s Tallinn International Airport, and Sweden’s Stockholm Arlanda International Airport.
The ranking was a result of votes collected from 26,297 travelers between Sept. 2, 2014 and Sept. 7, 2015 through its annual survey on airport quality around the world, the website said.
The travelers are asked to rate their experience on factors such as the airport’s services and facilities, terminal cleanliness, customer service and comfort.
