Taiwan’s high-end machine tools favored by global users

The Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS) 2014 kicked off today at the Greater Taichung International Expo Center. Taichung, which is a major manufacturing region for global machine tools and other industrial equipment, welcomed some 650 companies at the show that included Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co., Ltd., Fair Friend Group, Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd, Yeong Chin Machinery Industries Co., Ltd., Ching Hung Machinery & Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Hiwin Technologies Corp., GSA Technology Co., Ltd., Habor Precise Industries Co., Ltd., Di Chun Iron Work Co., Ltd., etc.

Some of the most recent machinery models were put on display (e.g. large bridge and five-axis type CNC machining centers, drilling and milling complex machines and automation equipment). Show organizers estimated orders for machine tools to surpass NT$ 1-10 billion this year.

TMTS offers a platform that integrates an exhibition event with supply chain support services. This biannual event has seen its scope broadened over the years. For this year some 78,000 square meters of space was allocated and more than 3,700 booths put up for this event. TMBA heads expect over 70,000 visitors, including thousands of buyers from 40 different countries across the globe.

The show in 2012 attracted some 1,964 foreign visitors from 50 countries. Some 38% of the visitors attended the show to procure new machinery equipment; 23% came to collect information, 22% to seek business partners, and 13% to visit their local clients.

Buyers of machine tools were grouped into the following: 44%, cutting machine tools; 23%, machine tool components, attachments, cutting tools and software; 13%, forming machine tools; 12% inspecting, measuring and testing equipment, automation and control hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and industrial robots, and 6% tube and wire processing equipment.
