Taiwan to unveil new Industry 4.0 initiatives at IMTS 2016
Leaders of Taiwan’s machine tool industry are set to unveil a series of smart manufacturing initiatives for a range of applications during the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS).
The IMTS runs from September 12-17 at Chicago’s McCormick Place, with the cream of the Taiwanese machine tool industry set to unveil the series of smart manufacturing initiatives ranging from aircraft part machining to automotive component production at a press conference today (Wednesday, September 14) at this year’s IMTS.
More than 110 Taiwanese companies are also exhibiting during this year’s IMTS. The large number of exhibitions reflects the Asian manufacturing powerhouse’s standing as the world’s fifth largest exporter of machine tools and components.
Today’s press conference, by the power players of Taiwan’s mobile tool industry, will address the country’s overall Industry 4.0 efforts. It will also showcase specific smart manufacturing developments and new machine capabilities related to aerospace machining, machining centers, gear grinding and finishing machines, engine-case manufacturing, wheel machining automation and more.
Presenters of Taiwan’s new smart manufacturing initiatives will include representatives from the Taiwan Association of Machinery, Industrial Technology Research Institute and the e-Manufacturing Research Centre at National Cheng Kung University, as well as Taiwanese machinery manufacturers including Fair Friend Group, Luren Precision and Tongtai Group.
Taiwan embraces Industry 4.0 at IMTS
The presenters will address topics include: a new Industry 4.0 production line incorporating features such as integrated robot control, real-time remote monitoring, production and quality traceability. They will also introduce the concept of an Automatic Virtual Metrology real-time online inspection system that eliminates the delays of offline sampling inspection and advances the goal of achieving zero defects.
Taiwanese presenters will also address the collaboration between the countries educational institutions, research institutes and companies from diverse machinery sectors designed to advance Taiwan’s smart machine tool manufacturing capabilities.
IMTS is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world featuring more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and 114,147 registrants, and is held bi-annualy in Chicago.
IMTS 2016 is the 31st edition of the premier manufacturing tool show in North America and is expected to attract more than 114,000 buyers and sellers from over 112 countries.
Over 2,000 exhibitors from the metalworking industry will display their products and productivity solutions at IMTS 2016, which are featured in product category pavilions which include metal cutting, tooling and workholding systems, fabricating/laser/additive and abrasive machining/sawing/finishing.
