Machine tool builders gather in Taipei
The 2017 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) kicked off March 7 with exhibits showcasing the latest in Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.
Running from March 7 to 12, the industry extravaganza was joined by 1,100 exhibitors from Taiwan and around the world using 5,430 booths across the three major exhibition venues of Taipei World Trade Center, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, and Taipei Expo Park.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice President Chen Chien-jen said the show demonstrated the advancement of Taiwan’s smart manufacturing industry and pointed out that Taiwan is now the world’s 5th largest exporter of machine tool related products.
With an estimated 54,000 buyers attending the show, TIMTOS is now the second largest machine tools show in Asia and the fifth largest in the world.
During the weeklong event, a total of 230 one-on-one pre-arranged business meeting sessions were also held on the sidelines between Taiwanese machine tool companies and 38 major buyers from 17 countries.
