APEC successfully enters aerospace market

APEC, one of the subsidiaries of the Tongtai Group, has successfully entered the aerospace market recently.

Being one of the Taiwanese companies that joined the A-Team launched by the Aerospace Industry Development Corporation (AIDC), the company has been enjoying substantial growth from servicing the aerospace industry.

In July, APEC participated in the biggest aerospace show – Farnborough International Airshow – in the U.K. this year, showcasing its ability to provide total solutions for the aerospace clients. During the show, the company had met some potential clients, including Safran and Thyssenkrupp, and had successfully secured orders for several high-speed linear motor 5-axis machining centers.

According to the company, it is expected to see its sales growing 30 percent this year as a result of increasing demand in the aerospace market. APEC has now established a sales channel in each of the six major aerospace markets in the world, including the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, China, and Japan. For the first time, the company’s sales from the aerospace industry have reached more than 60 percent this year.

In order to integrate resources and to enhance efficiency of the aerospace supply chain, the A-Team Alliance was formed in March this year. As of July, the A-Team has more than 220 member companies, which include Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corporation (EGAT), Tongtai, Victor Taichung, and Chenfull.

According to the AIDC, the objective of the alliance is to help Taiwan enter the different international aerospace markets through the establishment of quality standards, integrating resources across different suppliers, and securing business opportunities from major international aerospace manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus.

The alliance at present is comprised of more than 97 aerospace component manufacturers, 49 machine tool companies, and numerous raw material suppliers, research institutes, financial institutes, and logistic service providers.
